The Ward Museum is a crucial interdisciplinary learning resource for the Delmarva Peninsula. The museum’s Education Department serves over 10,000 children every year through a variety of dynamic, hands-on programs, tours, and summer camps that focus on exploring birds in nature, discovering birds in culture, and creating birds in art. The museum offers programming to schools, home school, scouts and other organized groups. Several children’s events are offered each year including the Student Art Show, Mayday: For the Environment, Family Holiday Crafts, and the Maryland Junior Duck Stamp. Professional development opportunities are available for formal and non-formal educators through a variety of curriculum trainings and workshops including: Flying WILD: An Educators Guide to Celebrating Birds, Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s BirdSleuth curriculum and Lower Shore Traditions Curriculum and Activity Guide. As a Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education Green Center, the Ward Museum also serves as a resource for schools interested in the Green School program.
